Waste Management Facilities & Landfill in Fyli, West Attica (Oct. 2024)

West Attica FVLab (local residents, commonspace members and interested researchers) visited the landfill and waste management facilities in Fyli. During the 2 hour visit employees of (1) the Landfill and (2) the Recycling and Composting Plant guided us through the waste disposal, burial, and management sites. With them we discussed the operation and technical factors of the waste management complex, as well as the challenges and the current saturation of the site’s capacity, which serves as the unique waste processing center for Athens and the greater Attica region.
