Public Presentation & Discussion: Is the flood risk in the neighborhood widely recognized? What actions can we take as residents to promote solutions? s part of the Fairville action-research project, students from the University of Nanterre’s Gestion de l’eau et Développement Local program, together with EGEB, invite you to a presentation of the work they have carried out with the resi- dents of the Maelbeek Valley. From October 21 to 26, 2024, students from the University of Nanterre conduct- ed a survey in the Maelbeek Valley, interviewing 180 residents to understand their perceptions of flood risks and rainwater management. We will discuss what these findings reveal. Together with students and residents, we will present nature-based solutions, such as rain gardens and trees, which we have mapped onto a topographical map of the valley’s slopes. Maybe your street could accommodate these features? Finally, we will explore how to promote these solutions in collaboration with public authorities. Our guests from the Fairville network, coming from Paris, London, and beyond, will share various strategies and actions to start discussion.
